Photogaphy by Charlotte Boeyden

Based on the form of traditional asian rainwear,

I wove my personal memories and imaginations about the rain into a series of handcrafted 'rainwear'.

Instead of protecting us from the rain,

these capes simulate the sensorial and emotional memories of rain:

Silver-coloured thread incorporated into the fabric re-creates the reflection of light in raindrops;

overlapping shingles of wood and clear plastic rattle when worn, like rain hitting a rooftop;

and thick, soft mohair adds a mellow, water-like weight.
